Miami Moments

I finally made it to Miami last month. It’s been somewhere I have been wanting to see for a long while! July and August are not the best time to visit, it gets very hot and humid, but the timing worked well as my friend Kimberly was exhibiting at the Miami Swim Show with her beach bag collection JADEtribe.

I helped Kimberly set up her stand, but felt grateful that I was not involved on a work level anymore. Sometimes fashion can really suck, people can be so rude! But of course there are loads of great people as well and hence that is why I still have my fashionista friends that I want to hang with and who doesn’t want to keep up with all things chic and fabulous?

Clemmie Myers from Lime Green Bow flew from London to meet me there and go on a sourcing trip for vintage clothes. There is no shortage of vintage clothes and fabulous furniture in Miami. I love the mid century style!

We stayed in South Beach Miami. Everything revolves around Collins Avenue. There is the old part around from 7-14th Street which consists of low rise art deco buildings and the people watching is pretty special.

Lincoln which is like a high street and half of it is pedestrianised, north of Lincoln it becomes more high rise modern buildings and upscale hotels. It kind of reminded me of Vegas how there is old Vegas which is tiny compared to the mega hotels on the strip.

There is a huge stretch of beach with a board walk that you can walk or cycle along and enjoy the sea view. The sea is such a beautiful colour here and its like walking into a warm bath 🙂

It feels like Miami is changing fast. A city built on cocaine and crime, you can still feel it’s a little rough around the edges, but its changing fast. I loved the Wynwood District which is covered in street art and now has the equivalent of its very own Rodeo Drive which they call the ‘Design District.’
