NYC – EAT, DRINK, SHOP

It was fashion week, Lucky’s Birthday and my Birthday, so I took off for some fun in NYC with Anna from London Boutiques.
We stayed at The Dream Hotel Downtown. Okay value for money, loved the location, ideal for groups, this is a party hotel which makes it noisy.
EAT – CHIC TIP – where you eat and what you eat is a big part of New York culture. Make reservations ahead of your trip.
Morimoto – Meatpacking – chi chi atmosphere, great quality sushi, was probably very cool when it first opened, but lacked atmosphere (we went on a Wednesday)
Pure Food & Wine – Irving Place – raw food restaurant with organic wine. I would recommend this if you are interested in the raw revolution.
Café Gitane – Soho – popular with the fashion pack. It is very low key and looks nothing on the outside. Food is honest and delicious. Cash only.
Commerce – Greenwich Village – amazing, loved this! French Brasserie style, delicious food. Be prepared to shout, acoustics are bad.
The Smith – East Village – a great brunch spot, unusual concoctions with a Mexican edge. We need to experiment more with this in London!
The Lion – West Village – British owned, fabulous interior, dimly lit, great food. High Recommended.
Locande Verde – Tribeca – Robert Dinero’s restaurant. Order the Sheeps Milk Ricotta, sensational.
DRINK – the city that never sleeps, but I did!
I’m tee total right now, so I’m not the best person to recommend the finest cocktail hangouts! I visited home from home Soho House and I went to the Boom Boom at The Standard for the VinceIPO party.
Mainly enjoying, green juice from Liquidation, Jivamuktea Café, Hu Kitchen.
And great coffee from Ninth Street Espresso and Think Coffee.
SHOP – CHIC TIP – if you are planning on doing a lot of shopping, tell the staff where you are staying and they will courier your bags back to the hotel free of charge – amazing!
Bergdorf Goodman – this is luxury, I love this store. Feels like old school glam. I love marvelling at the jewellery on the ground floor, stunning.
Saks 5th Avenue – the biggest and the best shoe department in the US!
Barneys – they have the best accessories selection on the ground floor. This is where I bought my personalised Goyard bag. So much better than dealing with stuffy sales assistants in the UK.
Intermix – several stores around the city. They nail the buy and merchandise their stores extremely well making them a pleasure to shop in.
Owen – cool independent shop in Meatpacking. Great service and a more edgy selection than nearby stores.
Lulu Lemon – yeah yeah, not very cool, I know! Huge amounts of yoga apparel and the best work out bra’s!
Paper Souce – cos I’m a secret stationary addict and like to stock up on cards and little gifty things to take home for The Chic Team and friends.
McNally Jackson – Soho – independent book store and coffee shop, I enjoyed browsing, buying more cards and some US magazines.
JCrew – great for chic classics, cheaper than buying in UK.
Next Time I Must Visit:
Dover Street Market on East 30th & Lexington
Oak on Bond Street
Assembly, 170 Ludlow Street
Kinfolk Life, Williamsburg
Going home poorer, fatter, happier, energised, inspired, grateful, happy, excited for my next trip.
I HEART NY
Love
