Chic&Seek’s good friend and jewellery store owner Orit Schreiber takes on this week’s Chic of the Week. What do you do?
My dream job: I get to spend every day surrounded by beautiful jewellery! Founder of independent jewellery boutique ‘Orit’. I source jewellery from around the world. Many of the designs are exclusive to my shop and e-shop, and I still get a kick out of seeing customers enjoy their purchases. It is also thrilling to launch new designers and see the response to exciting new works.
What are you most proud of?
Cheesy I know but my children. Otherwise, work wise, starting with the discovery of my main designer in a small workshop on a cobbled street in a southern Spanish town, then launching at London Fashion Week and opening up the boutique on Westbourne Park Villas in 2009.
What can’t you live without?
My kids, our Parson Jack Russell, a cup of fresh coffee in the morning, my iphone, the sun, the sea.
What is your most memorable fashion purchase?
My little black Alaia dress, bought in 1990 and still fabulous! And my first Prada bag in pure cream a few years later.
What is your favourite shop of all time?
Biba. The one and only amazing shop and haven. I uses to pay homage there every afternoon after school.
What is your biggest fashion mistake?!
A floor length knitted coat that looked like it was made out of fishing nets. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!? The designer shall remain nameless!
Who would play you in the film of your life?
Ideally Grace Kelly for pure elegance and classic beauty, or Cate Blanchet who is amazingly talented and has an individual beauty. We are talking ‘ideally’ here!
What’s your Chic Beauty/Fashion tip?
Be yourself. The clothes and jewellery you choose to wear should look like something you own already, that is part of you.
Take a deep breath and try to remember to make the most of life and enjoy it. We spend too much time and energy rushing around and forgetting this.
A splash of perfume as you leave the house, or anytime, sets the tone for the day or night.
