CAROLINE LEGRAND

Caroline Legrand lives in the chicest home you have ever seen. She has an amazing eye for fashion and a wardrobe to die for! Here she shares more about her fascinating stylish life…
What do you do?
I am an interior designer (and also property developer), it’s a new career as I was in fashion before. Once a creative mind, always a creative mind….I have been told I should write a book (which I have started drafting…hahaha), be a photographer, be an artist, be a fashion stylist, be a fashion designer, be a party organiser, a life coach… I guess creativity enables you to cross many sectors. I am blessed.
What are you most proud of?
My children. They are beautiful souls and I try my best to teach them the valuable lessons I have learnt, as well as steering them into a very different environment and future. Everything changes, the world constantly evolves and just like our parents had no clue where we were heading when they were bringing us up, same applies to me and my children. Nothing is new, nothing stays the same. Friends come and go. Money comes and goes. Health comes and goes. Nothing is certain, nothing can be taken for granted. Once you truly grasp that, it makes the ride easier. Love and the understanding of life and its lessons is my gift to them.
What can’t you live without?
Water. Sun. Love. Laughter. Good sex…. ahaha. And GREAT shoes….oh everyone knows I love my shoes….
What is your most memorable fashion purchase?
Oh I don’t have one in particular. I think that every season there is at least one amazing purchase, which everybody comments on and which you are so happy you bought. This season it has to be my Saint Laurent black cape. It has replaced my “fading” Stella McCartney one which I have worn consistently for the past 3 seasons….Followed by my Donna Ida grey and black striped little fur…
What is your favourite shop of all time?
I don’t know!! Again I travel a lot and buy everywhere so I can’t say I love one store more than the others. I love shops with multi brands. Joseph on Brompton Road usually picks the right stuff and I always know I will find things I need there. I love Gucci, Stella McCartney and Saint Laurent, also because the salespeople are so nice and keep me updated on new items before it hits the shop floor….I loved the Webster on a recent trip to Miami. I just purchased a special edition Anthony Vaccarello dress….In terms of vintage, I shop in the US and a few stores in London, whatever catches my eye. I don’t shop because I am bored, nor am I a shopaholic. A close friend of mine keeps saying how I am the best shopper: I know what I need/want, and I always buy and wear instantly…My motto is simple: buy less, choose well and make it last.
What is your best purchase from Chic&Seek?
My Isabel Marant suede fringed boots, which were sold out and impossible to find anywhere until they found their way to you….and made me very happy! Followed by a Louis Vuitton coat with a mink hood…
In your opinion what makes Chic&Seek unique?
I think the clients who sell their pieces and the ones who buy them are very similar so we more or less “exchange” wardrobes…The pieces are well chosen and well priced and there is something for everyone.
Who would play you in the film of your life?
Heidi Klum. hahaha. A lot of people find I look like her and even nicknamed me after her…which is an honour as I personally don’t think I have much in common with her besides being blonde with brown eyes….but I will happily take the compliment to be compared to a supermodel with a very successful career…
