Amy Webster

Our new Chic&Seek neighbour Amy Webster is this week’s Chic of the Week. Amy was first introduced to interior design by her parents who renovated properties where she learnt to recycle fabric and furniture and create new individual items that no one else had. Each one of her handmade interiors is uniquely designed and made by Amy. Her attention to detail and rock chic personality is reflected in her choice of studded Anya Hindmarch shoulder bag!
What do you do?
I run a company called Amy Eliza which sells handmade interiors such as pouffe cushions, made from vintage fabrics and end of line silks and linens.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of running the Berlin Marathon two years ago. I signed up half thinking I would never make it through the training let alone actually get myself to the start line. Although it was incredibly tough i absolutely loved it, Its total euphoria when you finally cross the finish line!
What can’t you live without?
Well except for Bovril which I eat on a daily basis and my phone which is obvious, I can’t live without my blusher, when you have skin as translucent as mine without it I’m regularly asked if I’m feeling ill, haven’t slept well or am I hung-over. None great! So I always bronze it up!
Most memorable fashion purchase?
That’s an easy one, my vintage MCM hand bag. I saw it in Retro Girl in Notting Hill and knew I had to have it but would need a wee while to save up so hid it behind some rails. Eventually I had the money and proudly went in to buy it and have loved it ever since.
What is your favourite shop of all time?
I am a massive fan of charity and vintage shops, I love knowing I am buying something no one else has and that has a story behind it. Also the tailoring you found in the 1920’s for example is exquisite and to find something modern of a similar standard would cost a fortune. Lark Vintage in Frome, Somerset is a haven, over brimming with things of beauty from all era’s.
What is your biggest fashion mistake?
I cringe just thinking about it but I had a cream sleeveless puffer that I wore with baggy jeans and a T-shirt when I was (much) younger. I think I thought I was the sixth member of the spice girls…?!
Who would you play you in a film of your life?
I think someone like Drew Barrymore. She’s very easy going and relaxed and seems to have a lot fun.
