It is probable, that yes, you do! A Brazilian wax is most likely at the forefront of a Chic Seekers mind, who cares about the World Cup? We are in full swing of bikini season, summer is here and you never know what might happen after too much Rose on these long summer nights! Stay prepared and make sure your secret garden is attended to all times!
A few months ago Privet wax bar was born in the same month as the Chic&Seek boutique. I was excited to see a new beauty business opening that welcomed walk-in’s, I’m forever leaving things until the last minute or needing to cancel appointments, so this works best for me. Privet offers predominantly waxing, but also manicures, massage, facials and spray tans.
This is quite different from any beauty place I have seen before. Each room has been thoughtfully designed, giving its own personality and named accordingly. The interior is low lit and wooden, not a stitch of girly pink in sight and certainly no annoying pan-pipe or dolphin music akin to most beauty treatment rooms. I was so excited to find this inventive new space that I wanted to share it with you!
There are lots of puns and fun to be read on their website and in the store. Waxing treatments are named anything from a ‘Baby’s Back’ to a ‘Thongbird’ and you can save up points with regular visits and add them to your ‘Hedge Fund!’
I caught up with Andy Penniceard…the brains behind the brand and asked him a few questions about his biz (sadly I didn’t get a photo, but he has a super lovely team, just like the Chic Team!)
1. When did Privet open? March 2014
2. What did you do before opening Privet? I was a builder.
3. What was your inspiration behind the business? I wanted to create something gender neutral so came up with the idea of a salon in which men and women would feel equally comfortable.
4. Do you live in Notting Hill? No
5. What do you like about the area? The people
6. If you could open a second shop, where would it be? Clapham
